Definition and use
Vestment sets are liturgical garments in matching colors and designs. Churches often purchase or make vestments and altar vestures in groups so that all of the textiles will match. A set, at minimum, will consist of a stole and chasuble (and, pre-Vatican II, maniple), or of a burse and a chalice veil. Sets will be a single liturgical color. Some churches will also obtain the same textile in each of the liturgical colors, in order to maintain a consistent visual image throughout the church year.
