Definition and use

A habit is a set of religious clothing, including that worn by Catholic women religious. Typically, a nun’s habit consists of a tunic, scapular, cincture (belt), coif (headpiece, including the white wimple covering the neck and cheeks), and veil. Different orders, however, adhere to different dress codes.
