Definition and use
A rochet is a white, knee-length tunic worn only by prelates. Rochets are typically made from fine linen, although fine cotton is also acceptable. Although visually similar to a surplice, a rochet can be distinguished by its narrower sleeves, which are often trimmed with lace.
