Sheet music covers for works by P.S. Gilmore contemporaries, 1840s-1850s
Scope and Contents
Includes: "The Celebrated Polkas, as Danced at the Soirees du Haut-ton in London, Paris, Vienna, etc." by Julien (cover only); "Silver Lake Quickstep" by Frances C. Thomas (cover only, dedicated to "the Young Ladies of the Charlestown Female Seminary"); and a Jenny Lind portrait engraving from the cover of an unidentified piece. A Swedish opera singer, Lind began a tour of the United States in 1850. The donor inventory notes that "P.T. Barnam hired Gilmore to auction off the first tickets to the Lind concert and he got a great price."
