Grailville, Loveland, Ohio, photographs and letter, 1974, 1994
Scope and Contents
Rivers wrote that Grailville was a place that he escaped to find renewal. It was located on rural farmland in Loveland, Ohio. He and the members of the Grail collaborated on numerous reading and liturgies together as well as spiritual retreats. It was at Grailville that Rivers recorded the An American Mass Program with the help of the Grail members and his students from Purcell High School, the Queen's Men. He formed a lifelong friendship with the members of the Grail including Elaine Jones (who wrote the script for the Grail-produced "Newborn Again"), Catharine Leahy, and Frances McLaughlin.
