Diary, 1842 - 1842
Dates
- Creation: 1842 - 1842
Scope and Contents
Contains two loose leaves (circa 1840s), two diaries (1842 and 1846-1849), an inventory of plate (1884), and a commemorative book in calligraphy (1890). The diaries serve primarily as a travel log, recording information about Lyon's sea voyages from England to places like Africa, Borneo, China, and Egypt. The loose leaves discuss King Charles II of England. The inventory of plate details specific silver items owned by Lyon. The commemorative book thanks Mrs. and Mr. Lyon, in beautiful calligraphy, for sponsoring a fete at Appleton Hall in aid of Stretton Church and Schools, and is signed by the fete organizers. It includes a photograph of St. Matthew's Church in Stretton.
