Historical note
The American Conference for Irish Studies (ACIS) was conceived as the "American Committee for Irish Studies" at the 1958 American Historical Association annual meeting. In 1963, ACIS held its first annual meeting. In 1987, the American Committee for Irish Studies changed its name to the American Conference for Irish Studies.
