Honorary degrees were bestowed on O'Neill from such universities as Harvard, New England School of Law, and Trinity College in Dublin. Citations, programs, diplomas and correspondence document these degrees, which frequently were either Doctor of Laws or Doctor of Public Administration. Awards include several he received from Boston College, such as the Ignatius Medal. Prestigious honors from other institutions include the Harry S. Truman Good Neighbor Award and the Distinguished Service Award from the U.S. Association of Former Members of Congress. Many degrees and awards can also be found in the Artifacts series.
