Democratic National Convention-Labor Union Platforms/Biographies-Introduction and A, 1980 - 1980
Dates
- Creation: 1980 - 1980
Scope and Contents
O'Neill, a strong partisan, encouraged party unity and urged reforms that would foster a stronger and more vital Democratic Party. Gathered here are Democratic organization records concerned with presidential and congressional elections and conventions. Correspondence in the files is supplemented by reports on election results, surveys, platform material and manuals. Especially interesting are the files on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which raised money to assist candidates. As Speaker, O'Neill often supported the DCCC's efforts by speaking at fundraisers and receptions.
