House Affairs, 1985 - 1985
Dates
- Creation: 1985 - 1985
Scope and Contents
Newspaper and magazine articles collected here document O'Neill's public image as recorded by the press. Personal stories, such as his marriage to Mildred Anne Miller (1941), are mixed with political issues like Impeachment (1974-1975), Busing (1975), and Beirut (1983). O'Neill's articles in support of President Kennedy's legislative proposals (1961-1962) serve as an interesting insight to their political relationship. Numerous tributes and profiles, written during O'Neill's last year as Speaker (1986), provide some overview and analysis of his career. An extensive set of Boston Globe articles (1935-1994) regarding O'Neill complete this section.
