Scope and Contents
This is a collection of audio and video recordings of informal press conferences, radio addresses, interviews, and television news and talk shows. Video recordings date, primarily, from O'Neill's years as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. O'Neill's staff frequently taped newscasts and other shows that contained interviews, profiles, and major events in which the Speaker was involved. Of note are those video recordings that show O'Neill speaking on the Floor of the House and those that record his political reminiscences. Audio recordings include O'Neill's narration of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" with the Boston Pops and his farewell messages to the President and Congress. Topics include: Lebanon, Nicaragua, President Reagan, the MX Missile and reminiscences of O'Neill's career.
