Processing Information
There are dedicated subseries for the regions where Helmick did extensive conflict resolution work and had both correspondence and working papers. For regions where Helmick's work and resulting files are more limited, the archivist included the materials in the "Other conflict resolution" subseries.
This series consists of almost equal parts paper and digital files. The description is integrated as much as possible. In some instances, Helmick's different approach to the arrangement of analog and digital files made integration impossible. For instance, he kept a "Middle East" set of digital files, but distinct groupings for "Israel and Palestine", "the Kurds in Iraq and Turkey", and "Lebanon" in his paper files. Similarly, his digital faculty files included an "Articles and talks" grouping within his faculty materials, while his articles were distributed throughout his regional conflict work in his paper files. His original order has been maintained in these cases.
