Material pertain to Helmick's time living in Washington, D. C., where he was working for the Conflict Analysis Center (formerly the Washington Research Consortium), and simultaneously helping to promote the creation of the United States Institute of Peace. Papers related to the founding and administrative details of both organizations are included, as well as correspondence, reports written by Helmick, and slides from his trip to Lebanon.
