The correspondence in this series begins shortly after Elodie and Hilaire were introduced in London in 1890 and includes their courtship, marriage, and life until Elodie's death in 1914. Of particular interest are postcards and letters Belloc wrote to Elodie in June 1901 while walking from Toul, France to Rome, Italy which is the subject of Belloc's book Path to Rome.
