Goethe family papers transcriptions, 1824-1962, undated

 Sub-Series

Scope and Contents

Except for a couple of introductory texts written by Bluhm, these materials are mainly transcriptions of the original letters, diaries and texts by Ottilie von Goethe as well as by other family members such as Wolfgang, Walter and Alma von Goethe, Ottilie’s children, August von Goethe and Henriette von Pogwisch. Several texts are unidentified. There seem to be no papers of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The letters and diaries are handwritten and/or typed transcriptions from the originals in the Newberry Library in Chicago. The Heinz Bluhm papers do not contain any originals or copies of original letters, diaries, or texts by the Goethe family.
