Historical note: St. Ignatius Parish

The Parish of Saint Ignatius of Loyola in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, was founded in 1926 as a Catholic parish in the Jesuit tradition, part of the Archdiocese of Boston. The congregation held Mass in the auditorium of the library at Boston College until 1949, when the church building at 28 Commonwealth Avenue was completed, just down the hill from the library. Though independent, the parish maintained close ties with the Jesuit and student community at Boston College.
