Flône missal: stencilled manuscript
Scope and Contents
Stencilled manuscript missal produced for the use of Flône Abbey, in black, purple, and red ink on parchment. The text comprises Ordo Missae, Canon Missae, Missa de Beata and Missae Pro Defunctis, with music in mensural notation. With five full-page gouache paintings illustrating the Virgin and Child, St. Augustine of Hippo, the Virgin on the crescent moon, the Crucifixion, and the Sacred Heart. Borders ruled in red; rubricated initials.
