Scope and Contents

Includes approximately 100 programs and playbills from theater productions in Ireland and New England, with an emphasis on the Boston-area, attended by Robert Cuddy beginning in the 1980s through the 2010s. A majority of the plays were written by Irish playwrights and/or address Irish history and themes. Additional materials include season brochures, editions of the performing arts print publication Proscenium, and ephemera such as ticket stubs and performance fliers. Primary theaters and production companies in the Boston-area include American Repertory Theater (1980-), Gloucester Stage Company (1979-), Huntington Theatre Company (1982-), Lyric Stage Company (1974-), and Súgán Theatre Company (1991-2006); the Abbey Theatre (1904-) in Dublin is also well represented, among other theatres in Ireland.

Biographical note: Robert Cuddy

Robert Cuddy had an avid interest in Irish theater and playwrights and attended many such productions in the Boston area, New England, and Ireland in the period between 1980 and 2020.
