Biographical note
Spanish Jesuit. Francis Xavier was born in Navarre and studied at the University of Paris, where he met Ignatius of Loyola. He joined the Company of Jesus and at the request of King John III of Portugal, prepared to work in the missions of India. Francis Xavier visited India, Malaya and Japan before his death.
