Biographical note
A Priest, philosophy professor, academic dean, and college administrator, Matthew Louis Fortier was born in Vermont on February 13, 1869. He was ordained as a Jesuit priest on February 2, 1913. He held a number of positions at Boston College, St. Joseph's University, and Fordham University. Fortier died on May 22, 1935.
