Scope and Contents
Alphabetical index to the Patent Books held by the office of the auditor general of Great Britain, in which are recorded records of Irish patents and grants. Caption title on first page of text reads: Private property. An alphabet of names of patentees, lessees, manors, monasterys, abbeys, priorys, rectorys, churches, religious houses, tythes ... compiled by Henry Harding, 29th September 1788. On final page is a recipe, dated 21 Oct. 1804, for "Manders's blacking liquid" (shoe polish or varnish).

The compiler is likely Henry Hardinge (1754-1820), rector of Stanhope and father to Henry Hardinge, 1st Viscount Hardinge (1785-1856).

Inscribed on front flyleaf: Private property of J.F.H; in pencil on front pastedown: Ex lib Sir J.F. Hill; William Lutton's book; in ink, beneath clipping from printed auction sale catalog adhered to front pastedown: Bought at Jones sale, by cheque, 4 July 1865. Auction catalog clipping gives the compiler's name as H. Hardinge.
Bound in contemporary marbled-paper covered boards, with later cloth spine.
In English, cursive script.
