Biographical Note

Eugene Clancy was born in Charlemont, County Armagh, Ireland. With brothers Pat and Brendan, he formed The Clancy Brothers Ceili Band, which performed across Ireland in the late 1950s and early 1960s. In I963 the three brothers produced an album, The Patriot Game (Electra Records), under the name The Irish Ramblers, and toured the United States to promote it. After three years of touring, Eugene settled in New York, where he joined, and ultimately took ownership of, a moving and storage business. He returned to music in the 1990s, forming The Clancy Tradition with brother Pat, son John, daughter Rosemary, Pat’s daughter Liadain, and friend Mike Melanophy. They released The Clancy Tradition at the Towne Crier in New York, a live concert recording, in 1998.
