Scope and Contents
Manuscript compendium of Irish and Scottish folk dance tunes, notated on hand-drawn staves. Entries in Fleischmann's Sources of Irish traditional music show that some of the tunes were included in 18th-century collections of country dance music or in operas. Accompanying some of the tunes are instructions for country dance steps.

Bound in contemporary quarter-leather with marbled-paper covered boards. Margins of some leaves extended with later paper.
Custodial History
Written in ink on first page: "This music book was written by Mr. Malachie Donaldson in the year 1772 and left to his step son Mr. Joseph Robbinson who gave it to Mr. Rob Hethered about the year 1789 who has now presented it to Henry Shillington in the year 1842 April 9th." Stamped on leaf 16 verso "James Clibborn, bleacher, Waringstown."
