Scope and Contents

Commonplace book and diary of Hetty (Holme) Gillison Lincoln. Includes notes on the deaths of loved ones, pious reflections of her Baptist faith, transcriptions of poetry and letters, newspaper clippings, and pressed dried plants. Inserted are two loose sheets of orignal poetry, and a lithographed botanical illustration.

Biographical Note

American Baptist diarist. Hetty Holme was born 2 November 1789 in Holmesburg, Pennsylvania. In 1814 she married Thomas Gillison (1772-1825). In 1838 she married Heman Lincoln (1779-1869), thereafter residing in Boston, Massachusetts, where she died 3 February 1867.
