Scope and Contents

A fictionalized account of events witnessed by the author during his youth of a "particular locality in the South of Ireland during the Agrarian uprising between the years 1880 and 1890." Ardbawn (or Ardbaun) is a townland of the civil parish of Thurles in County Tipperary. Mention is also made of the tenants working the land in Rosscarbery in County Cork.

The M.J. MacManus papers consist mostly of letters from various correspondents written to MacManus. Many concern MacManus's duties as editor of the Irish Press.
