Commissioned by Professor Anne Dhu Shapiro, Boston College Music Department, and written by Derek Bell in January 1992. The suite was performed by Bell and the Boston College Chamber Orchestra at the Closing Concert of the Celtic Harp Festival on April 5, 1992.
