Cotton Bowl and Sugar Bowl scrapbook

The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, ephemera, and correspondence about the Boston College football teams coached by Frank Leahy. The materials primarily document the 1940 Cotton Bowl and the 1941 Sugar Bowl. The majority of the articles were written by Bulger. Box 1 houses the original scrapbook, while box 2 holds a preservation photocopy for easier use.

Thomas D. Craven papers

Abstract

The Thomas D. Craven papers contain his 1917 diary, clippings, photographs, and one Boston College football drive sheet. The diary includes almost daily entries from Craven's last semester as a Boston College senior and from his first several months of service in the United States Army during World War I. The clippings include information on Craven's time at Boston College, his service in the military, and his obituary.

Michael Cummings collection of P.S. Gilmore

Abstract

The Michael Cummings Collection of P.S. Gilmore documents the music career of Patrick Sarsfield Gilmore, American band conductor and composer, and the activities of the Patrick S. Gilmore Society. The collection particularly highlights the National Peace Jubilee of 1869 and the World's Peace Jubilee of 1872, with programs, lithographs, tickets, medals and bookmarks. The collection also includes correspondence, photographs, and newspaper and magazine articles.

Samuel Cunningham scrapbook

Abstract

Scrapbook consists of annotated clippings from the Northern Whig, a paper in Belfast of which Samuel Cunningham was chairman for a time. The clippings in this volume are by pseudonymous authors including “Asmodeus,” ‘Merlin, and “Old Fogey,” possibly Cunningham himself. Topics discussed range from Home Rule, World War I, the Titanic, suffragists, elections, unions, Churchill, and the political situation in Ulster, to coupons, waiters, and margarine.
