Historical Note
The Massachusetts Association of Colleges of Nursing (MACN), originally called the Forum of Deans and Chairpersons of Baccalaureate Nursing Programs in Massachusetts, was founded in 1976 and consisted of the directors and deans of nursing educational programs across Massachusetts. Its mission was "to provide leadership and advocacy on matters pertaining to professional nursing education and practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts." Its activities included preparing reports and promotional materials about nursing education, reviewing activities of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing, and advocating for legislation and policy change at the state level regarding nursing and nursing education.
