Biographical note

Prince Albert II of Monaco was born on March 14, 1958 to Prince Rainier III of Monaco and Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco. He graduated from Amherst College in 1981 with a degree in political science. He competed at five Olympic Games between 1988 and 2002 in bobsled. He succeeded his father upon his death in 2005, after having served as official second-in-command since 1984. He married Princess Charlène of Monaco (Charlène Lynette Wittstock) in 2011, and they have twin children: Prince Jacques Honoré Ranier and Princess Gabriella Thérèse Marie. Albert also has a daughter, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, with Tamara Rotolo, and a son, Alexandre Grimaldi-Coste, with Nicole Coste.

Abstract

The papers of diplomat Peter K. Murphy (1936-) consist mainly of correspondence with American, French, German, Italian, and Monégasque politicians, diplomats, and Catholic clergy. The collection also includes subject files relating to United States diplomatic relations with the Holy See and with Monaco. It consists of correspondence, clippings, photographs, and printed materials.

Restrictions on Access

The collection is open for research. Correspondence with Princes Rainier III and Albert II of Monaco received in the first accrual (2013) is closed until 2038. Correspondence with Prince Albert II of Monaco received in the second accrual (2021) is closed until 2035. In addition, one folder is closed for privacy reasons until 2065.
