Munro, Barbara Hazard
Biographical note
Barbara Hazard Munro was born in 1938 in Rhode Island. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing at the University of Rhode Island. She returned to the University of Rhode Island for her master’s in nursing, which she received in 1974, after having worked as a psychiatric nurse in Pittsburgh and in Connecticut. She went on to receive her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut in 1979. She held faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania, Yale University, and the University of Rhode Island before becoming the Dean of the William F. Connell School of Nursing at Boston College in 1991, a position she held until 2008.
