Biographical note

Thomas E. Wangler was born in 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts. He graduated from LeMoyne College in 1960 and in 1968 received his PhD in religious history from Marquette University. Wangler was an associate professor of theology at Boston College for 44 years as a specialist in the history of religion in America and American Catholicism. He was director of the theology department's graduate studies program, served as associate dean, and was on numerous committees. Wangler retired from BC in 2011. He died on April 24, 2024 in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
