Biographical Note

Johnny Cronin was born circa 1934 in Gneeveguilla, County Kerry, where he and his brother Paddy absorbed the rich Sliabh Luachra fiddle tradition. Johnny immigrated to the U.S. in 1956, settling circa 1960 in New York. There he played fiddle for more than thirty years including with his wife, Maureen Glynn. In 1977 Shanachie Records released a recording of his music with banjo player Joe Burke. He died in 1991.

Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin interviewing festival musicians Johnny McGreevy, Andy McGann, and Johnny Cronin, with a musical interlude by Dale Russ. They interviews include both conversation and performance. They were recorded in the Irish Room of the John J. Burns Library the day after the festival.
