Biographical Note

English musicologist Gerald Abraham emerged as an expert on Russian music early in his career. In the 1930s he became associated with the BBC, and in 1947 he became the first professor of music at Liverpool University. He edited a number of periodicals and published several books on music and specific composers. He died in 1988.

Consists of correspondence, articles, manuscripts and research notes of Abraham. Also includes some unidentified sheet music and publications on music and various composers. Some of the material relates to the musicologist Michel D. Calvocoressi and several Russian composers.
