Biographical / Historical

English musicologist Gerald Abraham emerged as an expert on Russian music early in his career. In the 1930s he became associated with the BBC, and in 1947 he became the first professor of music at Liverpool University. He edited a number of periodicals and published several books on music and specific composers. He died in 1988.
