Biographical Note

Charles L. Currie, SJ,was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 9, 1930. He studied at St. Joseph's Prep, Fordham University, Weston College, Catholic University of America, and Woodstock College. He entered the Society of Jesus at the Novitiate of St. Isaac Jogues in 1950 and was ordained in 1963. He served as president of Wheeling Jesuit University, Xavier University, and the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. He died on January 4, 2019 at the age of 88.

Charles L. Currie, SJ served as AJCU president from 1997-2011. His files also include some materials created by two interim presidents, James Carter, SJ (1995-1996) and Donald Monan, SJ (1996-1997), as well as those of president James Sauve, SJ, who began service in 1995 but died that same year.
