Biographical note

Originally from County Mayo, Brendan Tonra was a fiddle, flute, and whistle player and composer. After immigrating to Boston in 1959, he began performing in Irish dance bands in Dudley Square, and became a member of the Tara Ceili Band and the Connacht Ceili Band. In 2000, he was inducted into the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Northeast Region Hall of Fame, and in 2002 he received the TG4 Gradam an Chumadóra award for his tune compositions.
