Biographical Note

Frederick Mauriello was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1921. He was the son of Italian immigrants. Mauriello joined the United States' Army in 1942 and was given specialized training in electrical engineering. He was then assigned to the 309th Field Artillery Battalion and sent to Europe in 1944. After the war, Mauriello received his undergraduate degree from Boston College and his graduate degree from Northeastern University. Afterwards, he began a long career with IBM and relocated to upstate New York. He died in August, 2004.

The collection consists of letters written by Frederick J. Mauriello, a Boston College graduate, to his parents and sisters during World War II. It also contains photographs, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera.
