Biographical Note

Jesuit philosopher Frederick J. Adelmann, SJ (1915-1996) graduated from Boston College in 1937 and entered the Society of Jesus. He received a Ph.D. from St. Louis University in 1955, and specialized in Marxism and Soviet philosophy. Adelmann taught philosophy at Boston College from 1954 to 1985, and chaired the department from 1954 to 1965.
