Biographical note
Jesuit philosopher Frederick J. Adelmann graduated from Boston College in 1937 and entered the Society of Jesus. He received a Ph.D. from St. Louis University in 1955. Adelmann chaired the philosophy department at Boston College and was an authority on Marxism and Soviet philosophy.
