The "Rex Stout Newsletter" was published in The Armchair Detective from roughly 1978-1981. The Rex Stout Journal was an independent publication produced by McAleer from 1984-1986. McAleer kept up correspondence with subscribers on Stout topics well after the end of journal publication.
