Files labeled "good letters" or "favorable correspondence" are often found with the campaign materials and contain thank you letters and other supportive correspondence from constituents, government officials, interest groups, and local business leaders. Of particular interest is a file on the Ralph Nader Congress Project in the 1972 campaign files and another on Watergate in the 1974 files. Margaret Heckler ran nine Congressional campaigns from 1966 to 1982. In her first campaign in 1966 she defeated former Speaker of the House Joseph W. Martin, Jr., a 42-year veteran of the House of Representatives, to secure the Republican nomination. Heckler ran unopposed in 1972 and 1976. After redistricting, Heckler lost reelection to incumbent Democrat Barney Frank, in 1982.
