Scope and Contents
Consists of family records of Martin P. Harney SJ, including his birth certificate, genealogical records, newspaper clippings, and early notebooks and correspondence of his mother, Jennie (Martin) Harney. Also included are Harney's diaries and scrapbook, his ordination and Golden Jubilee materials, as well as numerous awards such as his Honorary Doctorate from Boston College and gold medals from the Eire Society of Boston and the St. Brendan Society. Series contains one audio recording of the Irish songs, “The Valley of Slievenamon” and “The Connemara Shore,” performed by Harney and Robert McCarthy.
