Papers are composed of family correspondence and financial records, primarily those of James Hackett. Of particular interest are the few letters which highlight the difficulties of the Irish famine.

Collection is open for research.

Negatives, in Shared box 1715, are not an access medium and are not available for use. The photographs in Box 26 are closed pending conservation review.

Audio recordings have been digitally copied; all original media were retained, but may not be played due to format. Digital use copies can only be accessed in the Burns Library Reading Room.

Custodial History

These records were transferred to the care of Martin P. Harney, SJ on behalf of Mary Hackett, presumed to be a descendent of James Hackett. Harney was an avid researcher of Irish history, and most likely used the files as research for his writings and teachings.
