Riemer, Emma - journal entry, 2020 May

 File — Digital content: 164194

Dates

  • Creation: 2020 May

Scope and Contents

Journal Riemer kept for "Climate Fiction" course, which was offered through the English department during the spring semester. The journal documents Riemer's everyday life project to reduce her carbon footprint and evaluate her personal contributions to climate change. Over time, the journal entries became daily meditations on taking the train, observing the weather, understanding climate change, and grappling with nonhuman agency. When the project took an unexpected turn after COVID-19 was declared a pandemic and Boston College closed, her meditations began to dwell on the effects of COVID-19 on campus and her life.
