Definition and use
A zucchetto is a small, round skullcap worn by members of the clergy. Distinct from a Jewish kippah or yarmulke, a zucchetto has a silk cord stem in its center. The pope wears a white zucchetto, while cardinals wear red, bishops wear purple, and priests wear black.
