Parts of this interview were used for Kent's article on women risk-takers in the June 1980 issue of Vogue. In the recording Race car driver Guthrie speaks of the 1976-1977 race seasons; in the first few months of 1977 she raced in both the Daytona 500 and Indianapolis 500. She talks about the lead up to the Indy 500 and the other races that she has coming up later in 1978 in July and beyond. She discusses the large amount of money needed for car racing and why sponsorship is necessary; and why she likes racing ("...sitting here talking is kind of like running in idle.") The second side continues with her discussing some of her past racing history, and doing a commercial for her Indy sponsor Texaco. More about the economics of racing and sponsorship, and Guthrie discusses her car designer George Bignotti and driving with a fractured wrist to a ninth place Indy finish in 1978. The third side concludes the interview, talking about 1978 Indy 500 winner Al Unser's derogatory comments about her after her top-10 finish.
