A majority of the plays were written by Irish playwrights and/or address Irish history and themes. Additional materials include season brochures, editions of the performing arts print publication Proscenium, and ephemera such as ticket stubs and performance fliers. Primary theaters and production companies in the Boston-area include American Repertory Theater (1980-), Gloucester Stage Company (1979-), Huntington Theatre Company (1982-), Lyric Stage Company (1974-), and Súgán Theatre Company (1991-2006); the Abbey Theatre (1904-) in Dublin is also well represented, among other theatres in Ireland.
