Jacobs, Jane and an assistant to the governor, 1969

File — Box: 4 (original media), Item: 16, Side: B

Scope and Contents

Contains two partial interviews. The first is with Jane Jacobs, discussing the State Office Building project with Kent, saying that it was an impulsive decision on the part of the governor for it to be built in Harlem; also discussing the UDC, and what types of investment she believes Harlem needs.

At roughy minute 21, another underlying interview about the State Office Building project starts up. The interviewee says he was appointed to this position in 1966. Kent asks how he became the governor's assistant. He talks about some provisions the governor has put into building projects like this such as day care centers. He says he is being reassigned to the Office of Comunity Affairs. He mentions the Mets winning the pennant which places this in 1969.
