Graduation nursing cap, cupcake-style with blue ribbon, 1990s
Scope and Contents
Includes examples of uniforms across the history of the school. The wool cape was worn by students for district nursing rounds in cold weather. The folded student caps demonstrate St. Elizabeth's signature fold, which forms an "M", symbolizing the Virgin Mary, on the top of the cap. The three points represent the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The cupcake style caps used in the early years of the school were adopted again beginning with the class of 1969, because they were more uniform that the folded caps, which were assembled by each student and varied greatly in appearance. Ribbon color on the cupcake caps indicated junior, senior, or graduate status. Although color systems varied over the years, black was consistently used for graduates.
