Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

Papers document the professional lives of Elizabeth Christitch and her daughter Annie Christitch, both writers and political activists in the early twentieth century. The bulk are letters to Annie and Elizabeth concerning the Catholic Church in Serbia, the women’s rights movement, publishing, Irish independence from England, and Annie's lecture tours. A smaller set of correspondence documenting the presonal side of their lives is between family members,... including Annie's younger sister Janie. Also included are clippings about Annie and Elizabeth, collected family ephemera, photographs, and writings from both Annie and Elizabeth. Family ephemera comprises articles on Ireland; programs from lectures, ceremonies, and political gatherings; prayer cards, and a Fianna Eireann membership. The photographs primarily feature Elizabeth, Annie, and Janie. There are also images of a gathering of the International Council of Women. Many items have explanatory notes by Annie providing context.
